consultancy

Link Ergonomics provides general consultative services within a range of environments such as offices, hospitals, schools, shops, factories, warehouses and industrial sites. Our goal is to help employers avoid the occurrence of work-related injury such as upper limb disorders (repetitive strain injury) and back pain in their workplace.

Our general consultative services include:

Workstation design and evaluation
Workplace design and evaluation
Equipment selection and assessment
Trouble-shooting
Health and safety

Workstation design and evaluation
We provide advice on the suitability of current workstations following in-depth workstation assessment along with recommendations for reasonably practicable improvements. We also provide design specifications and advice based on sound ergonomic design principles when new workstations are being planned. Link Ergonomics also offers prototype evaluation and the management of user trials as complementary services.

Workplace design and evaluation
The environment in which individuals work has an impact on their level of well-being. Whether it's the cab of a lorry, a baggage hold in an aircraft, a reception desk, a blast chiller, a control room or an operating theatre, Link Ergonomics can offer guidance on the most suitable conditions for your workplace.

Equipment selection and assessment
Equipment is often provided on the basis that it does a job, not on the basis that it is easy to use or control. Our expertise allows us to highlight the possible consequences of using unsuitable equipment, such as work-related injury, and identify more appropriate 'fit-for-purpose' designs. This advice can be applied to anything from an on-screen display or computer mouse to a pneumatic ram or load handling device.

Troubleshooting
In some instances, an organisation only becomes aware that it has an ergonomics problem when its employees complain of upper limb disorders (repetitive strain injuries) or back injuries. We can investigate the causes of employee ill-health and provide recommendations for improvements.

Health and safety
We recognise that strict health and safety issues sometimes need to be tackled separately from ergonomics issues. That's why we have a dedicated health and safety consultant who specialises in assisting organisations in developing a safer working environment.
